AWARD WINNING PLAY ABOUT AA FOUNDERS

In this play about the founders of AA at the Carriageworks in Darlington (SYDNEY) from 9 - 17 July you will see a true story about the indomitable human spirit.

"This is the true story of two men who battle alcoholism and eventually go on to start global mutual-help group Alcoholics Anonymous.

It will be seen on an Australian stage for the first time starting in early July, in a local production at Sydneys CarriageWorks.

"The award winning play "Bill W and Dr Bob" will have its Australian debut on July 9, following a successful off-Broadway run and rave reviews across the United States, London, Scotland, Toronto, and British Columbia.

"Bill W and Dr Bob is being produced by Serenity Productions, a not for profit organisation led by renowned addiction psychiatrist, Stephen Jurd. It was written by Samuel Shem, author of the classic medical novels THE HOUSE OF GOD and MOUNT MISERY, which have sold over three million copies, and Janet Surrey, a clinical psychologist widely published in the fields of substance abuse and relational psychotherapy. Samuel Shem will come to Australia to see his award-winning play shown to local audiences for the first time.

"Dr Jurd said Bill W and Dr Bob is a deeply moving, funny and insightful story that not only explores the relationship between the two men that founded Alcoholics Anonymous, but also demonstrates the redemptive power that drives recovery from alcoholism.

"The play also explores the affect that alcoholism had on the two mens wives. Remarkably, both wives stick by them, Jurd said. And they go on to start Al Anon Family Groups.

"Bill W and Dr Bob will run at CarriageWorks, Eveleigh from July 9-17. Tickets are available online via www.carriageworks.com.au or phone Ticketmaster 1300 723 038.
