CALL FOR AP LANDS' COMMUNITY CONSTABLE POSITIONS TO BE FILLED
The Anangu Pitjantjatjara (AP) Yankunytjatjara Lands Council says local community constable positions need to be filled as soon as possible.
There are 10 positions for Aborigines to act alongside police on the lands in South Australia's far north.
But the general manager of the lands council, Ken Newman, says some of those have been left vacant.
"We were recently, or we as in some of the members of the executive, were in Adelaide recently and we met with the local Police Commissioner and we were certainly lobbying for the rest of those community constable positions to be filled and to be filled as soon as possible," he said.
