NCM is in the process of establishing a National Mining Academy in the Pilbara and expects it to be operating in early 2007.

The NNMA will provide 16 weeks of learning for those who have no previous experience in the mining industry. The first 8 weeks will provide participants with a good understanding of mine safety, mining legal requirements, the environment, first aid and processes and documents that form an important part of the mining life.

Following this period, participants will then begin to operate mining equipment in an environment that is suitable for learning.
