Opportunity for Two Indigenous Basketball Coaches

Closing date: 17 August 2010

Region: Australia - National

The US State Department is funding a group of 12 Australian basketball coaches between the ages of 20 and 35 to visit Washington DC from 5-15 October 2010. The group will attend clinics with high school, inner city and college coaches in the Washington DC area and with coaches with the Washington Wizards. All travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the US Government.

They are looking for two up and coming Indigenous coaches to join the group. The successful applicants need to be committed to taking the learnings from the trip back to their communities. Upon their return to Australia, the participants will be expected to run a series of clinics for local coaches and players.

Successful applicants will need to be in Melbourne by 8am on 4 October - the US Government will also make domestic travel arrangements. Although the group will be flying back on 15 October, it will be possible for participants to stay on for up to 30 days at their own expense. The only proviso is that they must fly home from Washington DC.

I would be grateful if you could pass this on to your networks. Anyone who is interested and wants more information, please feel free to email or call me before close of business on Tuesday, 17 August 2010.
