My background

Pansy Hicks is a Ngarluma woman who lives in Roebourne. Her country is Parrkapinya (Whim Creek) and she belongs to the Burungu skin name. She paints about the country, or Ngurra and bush tucker. She explains one of her bush tucker paintings: My painting has sweet potato mardirda ; wogallu a nut from the bloodwood tree you know... like a coconut hanging down... open it up.. you eat the inside part... badjila... desert passion fruit... im got them seeds inside... they're green then they yellow... see the skin just peeling off... see the skin inside.... Its the wet season when its ripe... wajudju... bush banana ... might be season now. Wild tomatoes.. galangul.... Got some seeds in the background too.
