The cover conveys the Indigenous circular calendar in its simplest form -- a finger-painted circle in black and white.
The Aboriginal annual calendar is often represented as a circle based on their seasons and what they bring.
The connotations of the circular symbol go even deeper and we hope represent our cultures coming together.
Designed by award winning designer Kevin Finn, who was selected as one of only three Australian-based designers to judge the prestigious D&AD awards in London and, in January 2009, was selected as one of 25 Best Emerging Talents in the US.
The Magabala Diary 2010 also includes portraits by the winner of this year's National Photographic Portrait Prize, Ingvar Kenne, photographed in locations including the Kimberley, Tasmania and Kinglake, Victoria.
